Opening the Doors to Higher Education<\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
Most Oregonians are aware that their lottery play helps finance public schools across the state; however, many assume that funding stops at grade 12 with our public high schools. What\u2019s less well known is that Lottery support doesn\u2019t stop there! It also helps fund many scholarships, opening the doors to higher education for many deserving students who might not otherwise have the opportunity at attend.<\/p>\n
The Oregon Opportunity Grant<\/strong> is just one of the programs that your lottery dollars help support. Coordinated by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC), this grant program is the largest financial aid program supporting college affordability and its importance for Oregonians. It\u2019s a needs-based program that has helped thousands of students statewide fulfill their dream of attending college and pursuing their dream careers.<\/p>\n If you know a student who hopes to attend community college or pursue a four-year degree in Oregon, but who is wondering how they will pay for it, encourage them to apply. More information is available through the Office of Student Access and Completion<\/a>, including a short video on the application process. Their advice to students who aren\u2019t sure if they qualify is to apply anyway! It just might be the first step on the road to an even brighter future.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
