Developing Innovative New Medications
What can technology do for Oregon’s economy? Oregon Lottery® dollars help fund research for DesignMedix, a medical company pioneering a unique, rapid approach for developing drugs to overcome drug resistance. Their first target? Malaria, a disease that 40 percent of the world is at risk of contracting, including our military personnel and international travelers. DesignMedix is developing a cure initially targeted at the most vulnerable patients, children and pregnant women, that's 100x more effective against drug-resistant malaria. This cure for malaria will help improve and save the lives of millions of people around the world. Where is it developed? Right here in Oregon with innovative thinking, local research and the support of Lottery dollars that help Oregon businesses grow and create a more diverse economy.
