Good news for Oregon Lottery® Powerball® players who like a chance at multiplying their prizes – the Power Play® random multiplier option is back!
The Power Play multiplier option will return January 22, 2014. This add-on option gives players a chance to multiply most Powerball prizes 2X, 3X, 4X and 5X. The addition of Power Play will cost $1 per play.
The Power Play multiplier option will be available to players beginning Sunday, January 19, for the Wednesday, January 22, 2014, drawing.
The Power Play multiplier option can increase Powerball prizes by as much as five times the normal prize with two exceptions - when players win the $2 million Match 5 prize (matching five numbers and not the power ball number) with Power Play added, and the jackpot prize.
No other changes to Powerball are planned. Players will still choose five numbers from a field of 59, and one power ball from a field of 35. The cost of a Powerball play remains $2.
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $8 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. In that same period, it has paid its players more than $23 billion in prizes.
