September 20, 2013 - Salem, Ore. -
games offer varying degrees of odds, just the like the world around us.
A little internet research reveals some interesting odds:
- Odds of winning an Olympic medal – 1 in 662,000. That may not take into account the odds of surviving the training necessary to win that medal.
- Those proverbial odds of being struck by lightning – 1 in 576,000.
- Odds of spotting a UFO today – 1 in 3,000,000.
With only 250,000 tickets available, the Halloween Raffle’s 1 in 250,000 odds of winning its $1 million top prize are pretty darn good for players. In fact, those odds represent the best odds in any Oregon Lottery game of winning $1 million!
In addition to the one $1 million top prize, the Halloween Raffle game also offers these prizes (and odds):
- 10 prizes of $20,000 (1 in 25,000)
- 1,000 prizes of $100 (1 in 250)
Since there will be no Thanksgiving RaffleSM
this year, odds are good that if people wait too long to get their Halloween Raffle ticket, they will be waiting until 2014 to play the next Raffle.
The winning Halloween Raffle numbers will be announced on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $8 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements.
