July 1, 2013 - Salem, Ore. -

An Oregon City father and son team who have been playing Oregon Lottery® games together, hit the big time when they matched all six numbers, and won the $16.3 Oregon’s Game Megabucks℠ jackpot in the June 24 drawing.

Rod and Brad Hoxsie equally shared the $16.3 million prize. Each winner chose the Annuity payment plan, and will receive 25 equal annual payments. Rod and Brad claimed their prize at the Lottery office in Salem on June 28. They each received their first annual payment of $218,420 after state and federal taxes were withheld.

Brad purchased a $5 Quick Pick ticket at Jacksons Food Stores #535 in Milwaukie. The winning ticket displayed 10 combinations of numbers. In the eighth combination of numbers, the duo matched all six numbers. The winning numbers were 2-15-23-35-38-39. Jacksons Food Stores will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The last Oregon’s Game Megabucks jackpot prize was $9.2 million, won on October 12, 2012. There had been 115 Oregon’s Game Megabucks drawings, 993,102 winning tickets, and more than $5.3 million in prizes between winners. Rod and Brad’s prize is the 11th largest Oregon’s Game Megabucks jackpot ever won.

Rod and Brad are the Oregon Lottery’s 237th and 238th Oregon’s Game Megabucks millionaires. Overall, Oregon’s Game Megabucks players have won more than $808 million in prizes since the game made its debut in 1985.

The Oregon Lottery reminds players to always sign the back of their lottery tickets, regardless of the game. In the event of winning a jackpot, they should consult with a trusted financial planner or similar professional to develop a plan for their winnings. Prize winners of more than $50,000 should contact the Lottery office to schedule an appointment to claim their prize.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $8 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit www.oregonlottery.org.
