– Current Oregon Lottery Commission Chair Steve Ungar announced he will step down as Chair of the Oregon Lottery Commission. Ungar has been on the Commission for nearly two complete terms, starting in November 2004 and has been the Chair since October 2006.
“The sole reason for resigning a few months early is on account of my personal circumstances,” said Ungar, who is an attorney with Portland law firm Lane Powell. “More specifically, I desire to spend more time with my sons, ages 8 and 11, and I have law cases that will be headed to trial this summer.”
“I thank Steve for his valuable service to the State of Oregon,” said Governor Kitzhaber. “He brought unique expertise and great energy to a volunteer position, and Oregonians are better off for his service.”
Added Lottery Director Larry Niswender, “Steve’s dedication to the Oregon Lottery has been very evident and unwavering during his time on the Commission. I thank Steve for all he has done for the Oregon Lottery and wish him the best.”
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $8 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit
