82 Drawings Later - Megabucks Jackpot Still Growing

June 29, 2011 - Salem, Ore. - The last time Oregon had a Megabucks jackpot winner, the Oregon Ducks were preparing for the BCS National Championship game and holiday shoppers were out in full force.

That was December 18, 2010.

Now, 82 thrice-weekly drawings later, Wednesday’s $17.4 million jackpot is eighth on the list of all-time Megabucks jackpots. The top Megabucks jackpot is a $30 million prize won in November 2004.

From December 2010, there have been many Megabucks winners – just not of the jackpot variety. Since December 18, 2010, there have been over 748,000 winning tickets and over $4.5 million in Megabucks prizes awarded.

Provided the lucky Megabucks ticket holder has all six of the numbers drawn, they will have two options of claiming the $17.4 million prize. The annuity option, paid over 25 years, would give the winner yearly payments of over $466,000, after taxes. The one-time lump sum payment would be over $5.8 million, after taxes.

Megabucks, available only in Oregon, has drawings every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 PM. Of course, the only chance a person has at winning the jackpot is to purchase a ticket. Players can buy Megabucks tickets at any Oregon Lottery retail location until just prior to the drawing on the night of the drawing.

The Lottery recommends that you always sign the back of your tickets with each Oregon Lottery game you play, to help ensure you can claim any prize you may win.

Results and additional details for Megabucks, Powerball, Mega Millions and all Oregon Lottery games can be found on the Lottery’s Web site at www.oregonlottery.org.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $7 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit www.oregonlottery.org
