Ontario Area Schools Participating in 15th Annual Oregon Lottery® Scratch-it^SM for Schools Event for Schools

April 15, 2010 - Ontario, Ore. -On April 19, 2011, five public schools from the Ontario area will participate in the Oregon Lottery®’s annual fund raising event, Scratch-it for Schools. The event will be held at the Four Rivers Cultural Center and Museum and begins at 9 a.m.

At each of the statewide events, two adults from each of the schools are partnered with two other adults from local TV and radio stations, as well as newspapers, to form a four-person team. All four team members will scratch as many Scratch-it tickets as they can, fast and furiously, while a countdown clock speeds away. At the end of the time, all cash prizes teams uncover are the school’s to keep.

Last year, the public schools from across the state who took part in the Oregon Lottery’s Scratch-it for Schools event won over $82,000. Since the Scratch-it for Schools program began in 1996, over $1 million has been awarded to the participating public schools.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has funded over $4.4 billion for public education. In total, the Lottery has earned over $7 billion for public education, state parks, watershed enhancements and economic development combined.
