Two $1 million prizes to be awarded!
September 23, 2010 – Salem, Ore
– Things are changing with the latest Oregon Lottery® RaffleSM
game. The Lottery’s four previous Raffles offered the same number of prizes and the same number of tickets. The new Thanksgiving Raffle doubles the prizes and the number of tickets available, but leaves the cost per ticket at $10!
Tickets go on sale Sunday, September 26 giving players not one but two chances to win the $1 million top prize! All prize levels are doubled as well as the number of tickets available – increasing from 250,000 to 500,000 for the Thanksgiving Raffle. Tickets are available beginning at 5 AM on September 26.
By doubling both the number of tickets available and the cash prizes to be awarded, the odds of winning $1 million remain the same as previous Raffles – 1 in 250,000. This represents the best odds of any Oregon Lottery game of winning $1 million.
“We have had remarkable success with each of our first four Raffles,” said Interim Lottery Director Larry Niswender. “The longest it took to sell all 250,000 tickets for those games was 14 days. The demand and popularity of this game warrants expanding not only the number of tickets but the number of prizes players can win. We also recognize the importance of keeping the cost per ticket at $10.”
In addition to the two $1 million top prizes, the Thanksgiving Raffle also offers these prizes:
- 20 prizes of $20,000
- 2,000 prizes of $100
The Thanksgiving Raffle marks the fifth Raffle game the Lottery has introduced. The 250,000 tickets offered for each of the previous four Raffle games sold out in 12, 11, 10, and 14 days respectively.
The winning Thanksgiving Raffle numbers will be announced on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned nearly $7 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit
